The origins of the Latin American independences in the Atlantic perspective

Resumo: On the eve of the Independences in Latin America, links across the Atlantic have allowed the circulation of knowledge of illustration, revolutions in North America and France. Despite internal reasons such as the Bourbon and Pombal Reforms having led to the Independences, their basis was the exchange of knowledge. The case of Haiti, a symbol of violent abolition of slavery, shows that the exchange of knowledge did not have one single direction.

A pesar de que las razones internas, como las Reformas Bourbónicas y Pombalinas, han llevado a las Independencias, fue el intercambio del saber que justificó sus bases. El caso de Haití, símbolo de la abolición violenta de la esclavitud, muestra que el intercambio de conocimiento no tenía una sola dirección.Às vésperas das Independências da América Latina, os vínculos atlânticos possibilitaram a circulação de conhecimentos sobre ideias da Ilustração, das revoluções da América do Norte e da França. Apesar de as razões internas, como as Reformas Bourbônicas e Pombalinas, terem levado às Independências, foi o intercâmbio do saber que fundamentou suas bases.
