Resumo: Whilst communities believe that they are bonded by endearment ties (“primordial”), whose origins over time are very faraway, ethnicity scholars are always showing that identity representations are constructed and subject to historical reelaborations. The paper reflects upon the concurrency of these two discourses, particularly in the light of oral history studies.

Mientras que las comunidades creen que están conectadas por un vínculo de afecto ( "primordial"), cuyos orígenes en el tiempo son muy lejanos, los estudiosos del origen étnico están mostrando siempre que las representaciones de identidad se construyen y se sujeta a reelaboraciones históricas. El artículo reflexiona sobre las posibilidades de convivencia de estos dos discursos, sobre todo desde la perspectiva de los estudios de historia oral. Enquanto as comunidades acreditam que são ligadas por um laço afetivo (“primordial”), cujas origens no tempo são muito longínquas, os estudiosos da etnicidade estão sempre mostrando que as representações identitárias são construídas e sujeitas a reelaborações históricas. O artigo reflete sobre as possibilidades de convivência destes dois discursos, particularmente sob a ótica dos estudos de história oral.
