Resumo: This research focuses on travel literature, especially the chroniclers expeditions through the Amazon, among them Friar Gaspar de Carvajal (1541-42) and Father Cristobal de Acuna (1638-39). The aim is to reflect on a specific cultural universe, recovering the representations of the Amazon and El Dorado, drawn by Europeans during their reconnaissance and occupation trips to the region.

El objetivo es reflexionar sobre un universo cultural específico, recuperando las representaciones de la Amazonía y de El Dorado, trazado por los europeos durante los viajes de reconocimiento y ocupación de la región.Esta pesquisa encontra-se centrada na literatura de viagem, privilegiando os cronistas de expedições á Amazônia, entre eles Frei Gaspar de Carvajal (1541-42) e Padre Cristóbal de Acunã (1638-39).
