Resumo: | Due to the policy adopted by the Portuguese crown to protect their colonies from other powers, we have only a few descriptions of Colonia del Sacramento, a fortification built in 1680 in the banks of the Prata River. Hence the importance of the accounts of travelers. Few described the Prata frontier, and the ones who took on this task were mostly clerics, such as the Dominican Domingo de Neyra and the Jesuits Diogo Soares and Florian Paucke. There were also reports by Frenchman Louis-Antoine de Bougainville and Spaniard Francisco Millau. It is through them that we gather knowledge about the details that were not registered in the administrative documentation, our main source of study for research of the daily life in Colonia del Sacramento. |

De ahí la importancia de los relatos de los viajeros. Eran pocos los que describieron el almacén platino, especialmente clérigos, como el dominicano Domingo de Neyra y los jesuitas Diogo Soares y Florian Baucke. También dejaron informes el francés Louis-Antoine de Bougainville y el español Francisco Millau. Es a través de ellos que tomamos conocimiento de los detalles que no fueron registrados en la documentación administrativa, nuestra principal fuente de estudio para la investigación del cotidiano en Colonia del Sacramento.Devido à política adotada pela coroa portuguesa a fim de proteger suas colônias da ambição de outras potências, contamos com poucas descrições sobre a Colônia do Sacramento, fortificação edificada em 1680 às margens do Rio da Prata. Por isso a importância dos relatos de viajantes. Foram poucos os que descreveram o entreposto platino, sobretudo clérigos, como o dominicano Domingo de Neyra e os jesuítas Diogo Soares e Florian Paucke. Também deixaram relatos o francês Louis-Antoine de Bougainville e o espanhol Francisco Millau.
