Resumo: This article attempts to show a general perspective about the changes experienced by Social Science in Chile between 1970 and 2000. The analysis approaches the relation between Social Science and the political, economic and social changes, in the national and global structure, during this period. The main hypothesis proposes that the interpretative approaches used by Social Science in Chile had changed in relation to the triad composed by Economy – State – Civil Society. Thereby, these changes are results of the structural transformations realized during the Military Dictatorship (1973-1989) and consolidated during the governments of the Coalition of Parties for Democracy (1990-2006).

El análisis aborda la relación entre las Ciencias Sociales y los cambios en la estructura político, económico y social, a nivel nacional y mundial, para dicho período. La hipótesis principal plantea que se produjo un cambio en los enfoques interpretativos que muestran las Ciencias Sociales en Chile debido a un cambio en su posición en la tríada Economía – Estado – Sociedad Civil. Dicho a cambio, a su vez, es producto de las transformaciones efectuadas durante la Dictadura Militar (1973-1989) y consolidadas por los gobiernos de la Concertación de Partidos por la Democracia (1990-2006)O artigo tenta mostrar uma perspectiva geral sobre as mudanças experimentadas pelas Ciências Sociais no Chile entre 1970 e 2000. A análise mostra a relação entre as Ciências Sociais e as mudanças na estrutura política, econômica e social, em nível nacional e internacional, para esse período. A principal hipótese defende que houve uma modificação nas abordagens interpretativas que mostram as Ciências Sociais no Chile devido a uma alteração na sua posição na tríade: Economia – Estado – Sociedade Civil.
