Resumo: | This study evaluated the sealing ability of resin composite restorations lined with different adhesive materials. Standard Class V cavities, with margins placed in enamel and dentin/ cementum, were made in bovine incisors. The flowable composite Fill Magic (Vigodent) and the glass ionomer cement Vitremer (3M ESPE) were applied as a liner in composite restorations with Charisma and Solitaire (Heraeus Kulzer), defining 6 groups (n=14): [C1] – microhybrid composite Charisma; [C2] – Fill Magic + Charisma; [C3] – Vitremer + Charisma; [S1] – packable composite Solitaire; [S2] – Fill Magic + Solitaire; [S3] – Vitremer + Solitaire. After finishing and polishing, samples were stored in sodium azide solution at 37ºC, for 30 days, and then immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsin solution for 24h. The teeth were longitudinally sectioned and the dye penetration evaluated under magnification (40×), by two examiners, using standard scores. Data were submitted to non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis statistical test. In enamel margins, significant differences were verified only for the association of liners with the Solitaire composite, with S2 (p < 0.05) and S3 (p < 0.001) groups presenting significantly higher leakage scores. Dentin/cementum margins showed poor sealing in comparison to enamel margins (p < 0.001). The association of Vitremer to both resin composites improved the dentin sealing ability, with C3 (p < 0.001) and S3 (p < 0.05) groups showing the lowest leakage scores. UNITERMS: dental leakage; composite resins; glass ionomer cements |
