Resumo: The research with the intention of discovering new substances with purpose for intracanal medication are a reality. It has as objective main the improvement of the properties of usually used medicines, such as the calcium hydroxide to with that supply some defaults that can exist. The aim of this work is analize the action of metronidazol gel in association to calcium hidroxyde and the Portland cement, as intracanal medication. The tests had been carried through in ways of culture of facultative anaerobic bacteria, which composes the carrying tooth flora of chronic periapical reaction. The calcium hidroxyde is, currently, the used intracanal medication more, since, possesss sharp antibacterial effect against the majority of the existing microrganisms in the interior of infected canals. Metronidazol came to be tested by possessing operating bactericidal capacity, mainly, in strict anaerobic bacteria. That is, microrganismos that are resistant to the action of the calcium hidroxyde. However, metronidazol gel when tested in vitro, compared and associate with hidróxido of calcium and the Portland cement did not have superior reply the action of the pure calcium hidroxyde as intracanal medication, having the Portland cement only improved chemical the physical properties/of this paste. UNITERMS: Portland cement; metronidazole; calcium hydroxide; intracanal medication.

UNITERMS: Portland cement; metronidazole; calcium hydroxide; intracanal medication. UNITERMOS: cimento Portland; hidróxido de cálcio; medicação intracanal; metronidazol.EDIPUCRS - Editora Universitária da PUCRS2007-03-20info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPeer-reviewed Articleapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/article/view/1220Revista Odonto Ciência; Vol. 22 No. 55 (2007); 23 - 29Revista Odonto Ciência; v. 22 n. 55 (2007); 23 - 291980-65230102-9460reponame:Revista odonto ciência (Online)instname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSenghttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/article/view/1220/971Mendonça, Eduarda Rodrigues da SilvaLima, Maria Campos MoreiraSteinhauser, Henrique CaballeroCarneiro, Sérgio Murilo Barbalho de SousaSperança, Paulo Augustoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2013-11-18T11:34:14Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/1220Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/foPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/oai||odontociencia@pucrs.br1980-65230102-9460opendoar:2013-11-18T11:34:14Revista odonto ciência (Online) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
