Resumo: The main objective of this article is to discuss the main contributions of the Constructivist Theory as an alternative theoretical approach to classical schools of thought in International Relations. First, a brief historical and academic contextualization of the emergence of the theory is carried out, which was given in a context of change in the bipolar order of the International System. Then, a theoretical review is made regarding the constructivist definitions of some of the main concepts of International Relations, such as anarchy, identity and interests. Finally, it is argued that Constructivism is a viable option not only for analyzing events at the end of the Cold War, but also about contemporary phenomena such as the crisis of the classic model of democracy.

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2020-12-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/conversasecontroversias/article/view/3911510.15448/2178-5694.2020.2.39115Conversas & Controvérsias; Vol. 7 No. 2 (2020); e39115Conversas & Controvérsias; v. 7 n. 2 (2020); e391152178-569410.15448/2178-5694.2020.2reponame:Conversas & Controvérsiasinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/conversasecontroversias/article/view/39115/26793Copyright (c) 2021 Conversas & Controvérsiashttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessRocha de Carvalho, Felipe2021-06-08T13:37:14Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/39115Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/conversasecontroversias/indexPUBhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/conversasecontroversias/oaiteresa.marques@pucrs.br2178-56942178-5694opendoar:2021-06-08T13:37:14Conversas & Controvérsias - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
