Resumo: Objective: Review on the main laboratory markers in the diagnosis of the septic shock. Methods: The authors revised books and scientific goods, with focus in the approached subjects, published in the period of 1989-2005. Conclusions: The laboratory markers are useful in the evaluation of the septic shock, aiding in the diagnosis and in the precocious detection of organic dysfunctions. In the blood and in the urine of these patient are reflected the alterations biophysical-chemistries in the tissues, in the validity of the circulatory deficiency of the shocked ones. The laboratory analysis can reveal most of the physiopathologic alterations. KEY WORDS: SHOCK, SEPTIC; BIOLOGICAL MARKERS; LABORATOTY TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES.

Objetivo: Revisão sobre os principais marcadores laboratoriais de suporte para o diagnóstico do choque séptico. Métodos: Foram pesquisados livros e artigos científicos, com enfoque nos assuntos abordados, publicados no período de 1989-2005. Conclusão: Os marcadores laboratoriais são úteis na avaliação do choque séptico, auxiliando no diagnóstico e na detecção precoce de disfunções orgânicas. No sangue e na urina destes pacientes se refletem as alterações biofísico-químicas que se operam nos tecidos, na vigência da deficiência circulatória dos chocados.
