Resumo: The New Age movement has changed over time. In its beginning, in the 1960s, it had more millenarian characteristics and was restricted to specific circles. Some years later, its constituent components became widespread in the society and incorporated into the broader culture, forming a new age ethos. This article aims to check, through a research on the Internet search engine Google, demand variations for these elements in the Brazilian society. Then it attempts to survey if there was a compatible variation in the New Age studies in academic circles. We concluded that although the New Age values are widespread in society, there was no increase in the number of studies on the subject, indicating a possible lack of attention by scholars and scientists of religion.
