Spiritual/religious/social support network in breast cancer and COVID-19

Resumo: A qualitative study to understand the spiritual/religious/social support network in the experience of breast cancer and the COVID-19 pandemic. The following theoretical and methodological frameworks were used, respectively: Symbolic Interactionism and Grounded Theory. The study participants were 13 social actresses, and data collection and analysis took place between August 2020 and June 2021. The central category was “Experiencing breast cancer in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of the spiritual/religious/social support network to face this moment positively”. This network contributed to the positive experience of the moment, with better adaptation to reality (breast cancer, social distancing, and the COVID-19 pandemic).

Foram utilizados os seguintes referenciais teórico e metodológico, respectivamente: Interacionismo Simbólico e Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados. Participaram do estudo 13 atrizes sociais e a coleta e análise de dados aconteceram entre agosto/2020 a junho/2021. A categoria central foi “Vivenciando o câncer de mama no contexto da pandemia da COVID-19 e a importância da rede de apoio espiritual/religiosa/social para o enfrentamento positivo desse momento”.
