Resumo: | This study aims to outline the views of the three foremost classic sociological thinkers on religion: Karl Marx, Émile Durkheim, and Max Weber. To this end, the methodology adopted was a bibliographical literature review organized by the concepts and theories of these authors. The search for an understanding of the religious phenomenon took on scientific form in the 19th century with the emergence of sociology and its founding trio. In this respect, each of them approached the subject from different perspectives, with points of rapprochement and distance between them, each contributing in their way to our understanding of the influence of religion on society. |

Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo2023-11-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.pucsp.br/index.php/rever/article/view/6068910.23925/1677-1222.2023vol23i2a14REVER: Journal for the Study of Religion; Vol. 23 No. 2 (2023): The non-religious; 227-242REVER: Revista de Estudos da Religião; v. 23 n. 2 (2023): Os sem religião; 227-2421677-1222reponame:Rever (São Paulo.
