Resumo: This work analyzes the procedural aspects implemented by Law 11.672/2008, that opened the prosecution of repetitive special appeals in the Superior Court of Justice. The institute serves society's need for rapid and uniform judicial decision throughout the country, in attendance mainly to the constitutional principles of reasonable duration of proceedings and equality. Specific aspects of the trial of the representative appeal of the controversy are properly analyzed and compared to other institutes, focused on the uniformization of case law and the regular procedure of the special appeal. Statistical data are considered to evaluate the effectiveness of legislative reform. Finally, it analyzes the New Code of Civil Procedure, on the subject

Dados estatísticos são considerados para avaliar a eficiência da reforma legislativa.
