Resumo: This research makes a discourse analysis of the coverage made by the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper in 2012 about the public authorities operation in the region called "Cracolândia", in the city of São Paulo. The chosen period for the analysis is one month from the implementation of the initiative, on January 3. The work listed all the articles, news notes and editorials related to the subject. After that, it defined if the publications were positive or negative for the initiative and if they were guided by the Government's actions, if the newspaper acted as auditor, if the Nova Luz Program - of reurbanization of city downtown - was associated with the operation and how drug users were characterized in the texts
