This study aimed to critically examine an episode of the Military Dictatorship in Brazil, which is seldom discussed: the Krenak Reformatory. It was established in 1969 and operated until 1972 on Krenak land in Minas Gerais, with the purpose of incarcerating indigenous individuals considered "maladjusted." Therefore, the objective of this study was to address social memory as a means to comprehend the tension between discipline and resistance through an analysis of the Krenak Reformatory. To achieve this, a documentary analysis was conducted, guided by Socio-Historical Psychology, of the following documents: 1. The text "Human Rights Violations against Indigenous Peoples" from the Final Report of the Truth Commission (CNV); 2. The video report "Krenak Reformatory"; and 3. The article "Psychosocial Assessment of Violence against Brazilian Indigenous Peoples: The Krenak Reformatory Case." The analysis facilitated the recovery of historical memory, allowing for a deeper understanding of the Krenak Reformatory, which was based on a colonizing and punitive logic that sought to alienate and erase the memory of the Krenak people. It also revealed the Krenak people's resistance movement, as they asserted their history, narratives, culture, and memory. Thus, this research aimed to support the Krenak people's resistance movement and amplify their voices, showcasing alternative perspectives on an episode of history that the military attempted to control. The relevance of further research on this topic was noted, as well as the need for a critical psychology that seeks to counter-colonize and converge
