O hip hop no ensino de História: uma reflexão sobre o Ensino Fundamental e Médio na periferia de São Paulo

This is a literature research with a theoretical approach of pedagogical matters that intends to (re)think the teaching/learning from the discipline of History and its process of formation of students as subjects of this action. For that, takes into account previous knowledge of these students and uses their culture in an attempt to improve teaching practice. From this concept, hip hop emerges as a catalyst of this way of making education. The theoretical and bibliographic research started from the history of hip hop, which was given the basis for the teacher/reader understand the minimum concepts and the social and historical significance of this movement. Secondly, we seek to discover how hip hop has affected Sao Paulo’s youth at the past three decades, since it is the focus of our attention. For that we analyzed thinkers who researched the history of this movement since its rise in the United States until the arrival and success in Brazil, as Nicolau Sevcenko, Arthur H. Lara, Marco A. Paz Tella, among others. In the third chapter we can count on researchers in the field of education (general and History), Elaine Andrade, Circe M. Bittencourt, Maria Caporalini, Alda Carlini, Pinsky Jaime, Marta Scarpato, among others. The discussion turned, specifically, to the teaching area and was possible to see that the main theories on education insist that we should not separate the teaching from learning. Others still argue that we should respect student’s previous knowledge, as well their culture, in this process. The history teaching also has its goals. They talk about build critical and active citizens, in order to transform the lived reality and rescue self-esteem. Finally we realized that the use of hip hop in history teaching can help us achieve these goals, making the teacher closest to your student, as well the school to the community, making the class more enjoyable and meaningful toward the student emancipation and for the production (and not only assimilation) of knowledge
