Hunger is perhaps one of the biggest challenges faced by humanity, whether due to the obstacles to solving it, the ways in which it manifests itself, its dimension or even its fragility because of socioeconomic and environmental changes, the fact is that hunger is not a recent problem, it is widely dispersed across the globe and has recently become an even deeper threat. Since the First World War, the issue of hunger has been part of international debates that seek to establish what is necessary to achieve Food and Nutritional Security and what constitutes it. In Brazil, the theme has gradually gained space on the national agenda since the period of redemocratization, having reached its high point during the Lula government (2003-2010). In this period, in addition to the great national attention given to the issue, it also became one of the main guidelines of Brazilian foreign policy, being present in negotiations in international forums, in humanitarian assistance and, above all, in international cooperation with countries of the global South. In this sense, the present work seeks, firstly, to demonstrate the evolution of the debate on the concept of Food Security. Then, it presents how the theme gained space in the national politics of Brazil since the redemocratization, as well as its transformation into a theme of the country's foreign policy and how this reflected in the international cooperation with the countries of the global South, especially with the countries of the African continent. Finally, a case study is carried out on the ProSAVANA Program, one of the largest and most ambitious cooperation projects undertaken by Brazil
