Resumo: The purpose of this work is to reflect upon the problem of evil and human suffering considering the mystery between the goodness of the creation, the image of the Merciful God, and the presence of evil in the world. Is there meaning in human suffering? What is the reason for suffering? Why does evil exist? Is it a punishment from God? Far from finding a definitive answer to such a vast subject which distresses the human race throughout the ages, we consider as a starting point for reasoning, the evil as a reality that affects every person, demystifying the classic dilema of Epicurus, to presenting Jesus Christ, an eternal manifestation of God’s compassion, which, through life, death and the resurrection gives new meaning to the suffering of the humanity, guaranteeing that evil and suffering are not the last words
