Resumo: This study aims to present the updates and changes that marked the dynamism of the model of regional governance in the Greater ABC Paulista. Area historically influenced by industrialization linked to the suburban city of São Paulo, São Paulo metropolis growth, followed by the fiscal crisis of the 1990s, exposed the need for coordinated actions between the municipalities of Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo, São Caetano do Sul , Diadema, Mauá, Ribeirão Pires and Rio Grande da Serra. Since the establishment of the institutional framework that manages regional demands - represented by the Consortium Grande ABC, by ABC Regional Chamber and the Economic Development Agency of ABC - the experience of articulating these cities, set in Brazil's largest metropolitan area, points to various challenges and also some achievements that can serve as models for other cities in the country. With the enactment, in 2005, of Public Consortia Law, new paradigms have been established, strengthening the pioneering Grande ABC in the Brazilian debate on the subject

Desde a criação da institucionalidade que gere as demandas regionais – representada pelo Consórcio Intermunicipal Grande ABC, pela Câmara Regional do ABC e pela Agência de Desenvolvimento Econômico do ABC –, a experiência de articulação dessas cidades, inseridas na maior região metropolitana do Brasil, aponta para diversas desafios e também para algumas realizações que podem servir de modelo a outras metrópoles do país.
