“Não quero dá trabalho pra ninguém”: um estudo sobre as pessoas idosas no Serviço de Proteção e Atendimento Especializado a Famílias e Indivíduos (PAEFI) em Itanhaém/SP

Considering the significant increase in violence against the elderly population in the country, and consequently in the number of cases in the Specialized Protection and Assistance Service for Families and Individuals (PAEFI) involving intra-family violence, the central hypothesis of the study was to understand how Assistance Social Security as a Public Social Security Policy, has contributed to social protection or reproduced practices that violate rights. The objective of this study is to analyze how the PAEFI in the city of Itanhaém contributes to the implementation and guarantee of rights for elderly people. With the research using the dialectical historical materialist method as a theoretical reference, aging in the sociability of capital was evaluated from the research subjects, using as a sample the forty-two cases followed at PAEFI in the year 2022. The study used the bibliographical research the contributions of critical social gerontology a multidimensional vision involving old age, as well as the documentary research that characterized the city of Itanhaém in its various aspects, contributing to empirical research the unveiling of a reality in movement that enabled a greater approximation with the subjects of research, and the definition of some categories of analysis that could contribute to the understanding of the researched object in its entirety. The analyzes highlighted the importance of PAEFI as a special social protection service, as a guarantor of access to rights and social protection for elderly people and their families, based on social work involving the network of public services in conjunction with the various existing public policies that make up the Rights Guarantee System, mobilizing support networks and strengthening the family and individual in carrying out their protective function
