Indaiatuba, uma cidade com muita história para contar: entre a antropofagia histórica, a arqueologia e a mediação

This work brought as a guiding principle questions about the local memory and the practice of Archaeology in Engineering Works in the city of Indaiatuba (SP) as a background. The contextual study of such activity is not frequently debated, which is one of the justifications for carrying out this work. The city of Indaiatuba was chosen for two reasons: affinity and because it is considered one of the best cities in the country. Despite its development, the city keeps its History very attached to the chroniclers' braces. Such aspects led to other relevant discussions: the maintenance of the local memory and the historical autophagy of the city, which denote cultural, social, economic, and political issues. To answer those questions were analyzed works written by local memorialists (considered traditional), opposing to recent studies. In addition, were analyzed 15 Processes found in the SEI!-IPHAN Platform related to Archeology works in Engineering Works carried out in the city. The collection of interest data from these documents was made using sheets developed for this study, and the time frame was brought by this same documentation: from 2005 to 2021. The crosschecking of all these information (in addition to the historiographical analysis, laws, and norms) presented varied nuances, both about the local memory and the archaeological practice itself, the so-called “Heritage Education” (which was opposed to an ideal called here “Heritage Mediation”). The theoretical contribution was influenced by classical and contemporary authors, mainly following the research scopes of Social History and Post-processual Archaeology, as well as other theories, such as Communication and Information Science, highlighting the interdisciplinarity of this work. Therefore, the research not only brings new discussions about the archaeological practice, but presents questions about historical, socials, and political aspects of Indaiatuba. Finally, as this is a propositional thesis, a prototype of a Methodological Material was developed for professionals in the field of Archaeology, which brings the Mediation as a central practical application of the Archaeological Heritage Actions
