Metacontingências e interações verbais: manipulações experimentais de produtos agregados e consequências culturais

One of the variables analyzed in metacontingency experimental studies is verbal behavior. Some studies have been investigating verbal interactions as independent variable, exploring its function on selection and maintenance of culturants. However, few studies have treated verbal behavior as dependent variable and none investigated that directly. This work aimed to investigate the effect of change of condition of cultural consequences production and absence of differential consequence for cultural consequence non production over the frequency and sort of verbal interactions in metacontingency analogues. 18 undergraduate students attended and were divide in six triads which were exposed to an experimental design ACABCB, A and B were different metacontingencies and C was extinction condition. Three triads did not receive any signalization about not producing cultural consequences, except for the presentation of next trial. Software Meta 3 was used for showing experimental task and verbal interaction among participants was exclusively made through a chat software, where they could chat freely. Results indicate that there was no difference in frequency and sorts of verbal interactions among triads with and without differential consequence for cultural consequence non production. About the effect of conditions change, in general the frequency of verbal interactions related to the experimental task increased when participants did not produce cultural consequences – in the beginning ow new conditions and during the whole extinction condition. The frequency diminished or changed its content when triads systematically succeeded in producing cultural consequences. The analysis of verbal interactions content showed that in the beginning of exposition to new conditions and during the whole extinction condition verbalizations of instructions and contingency description predominated. These results are in accordance with results found in other studies. Analysis of other studies that suggest the verbal behavior facilitates the emergence of culturants working as support contingencies are corroborated. New studies to explore the role of non production signalization are suggested
