This work is about emerging industries within the area of the Vale do Rio Paraíba do Sul, located along the river basin, and situated in the northern region of the State ofSão Paulo, Brazil, spanning between the capitals of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.The purpose of this research is to subsidize information about the locality for itssocio-economic and historical predicates.In the first chapter we describe the history and economic formation of the region andbegin our study with an overview from colonization to the cultivation of coffee.Essentially explaining the formation of the coffee’s agricultural exportation and,finally, the choice of labor and pre-existing production factors.In our second chapter, the principal focus pertains to urban centers and their relationto the growth and development of the cities within the Vale do Rio Paraíba do Sul. Bydoing this, we were able to understand the statistical and geographical emergence ofindustries, the working population, and the main socioeconomic aspects of theregion. In summary, we have reached the characteristics of the industrializationprocess.The third chapter deals with the study, elaboration, and description of the conflictsand contradictions present in political and economic disputes. The study describes aregional reality and sheds light on the differences between economic growth anddevelopment, in addition to the existing intrigue of industrial and agrarian capitalists,about the reality and needs for economic development
