The present research is based on the personal discomfort that has arisen in recent years in the face of the discussion about what has been called "democratic erosion". However, most studies seem to analyze democracy reduced to its institutional point of view, as if it were neutral and harmonious, ignoring its political origin, as well as the conflicts arising from the inequalities that permeate the public space. In this aspect, the present study seeks to find an answer to the current crisis, starting from the conception of democracy as a form of society derived from plurality and, therefore, naturally conflictive. Therefore, its crisis would not originate from the mere "disobedience" of its rules, but from a society that culturally rejects politics from the denial of conflict added to the collective and individual inability to elaborate the social contradictions arising from the contact with the diverse. In this sense, democracy would be in crisis because it is stagnated and blocked by three major cultural aspects, neoliberalism and its systematizing vision of society, and punitivism, responsible for the denial of the transforming aspect of democracy and for its own notion of sovereignty, which would be stuck to the imaginary of rupture
