Fiction is the object of study for this theoretical and exploratory research. Fiction is a complex phenomenon and has accompanied the human since its emergence. When looking at the past, we frame fiction according to the bundle of oral and verbal signs. In the present perspective, fiction has verbal, visual, sound, hybrid and interactive signs that are present in the most advanced digital technologies. We will present a mixture of approaches between the philosophical, scientific, technological and artistic discourses. Therefore, the theoretical basis is interdisciplinary. From the confluence and divergence of approaches, the hypothesis of this thesis emerges: the new concept of “hybrid fiction”. Fiction puts so many elements in relation that it is the hybrid feature that makes it authentic. Thus, hybrid fiction is articulated through three fundamental dimensions. (i) It requires both human (imagination and abduction) and non-human (sentient and decognition) cognitive processes. (ii) Hybrid fiction needs to behave as a language for cognitive processes to happen. (iii) The technological dimension is essential because current fictions are developed with the help of artificial intelligence mechanisms. We have outlined hybrid fiction based on the theories developed by Eco, Flusser, Peirce, Ryan and Shaviro. The contribution of science fiction is clear in the excerpts about the novels The man in the high castle (1962) and Do androids dream of electric sheep? (1968), written by Dick. In summary, hybrid fiction aims to be a new alternative for the investigation of fictionality and the aspects involved in human-fiction interaction
