Resumo: The presente work has as its theme the suspension and forfeiture of political rights.It is expected to carry out an examination about the hypotheses of restrictions on political rights provided for in the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988.For that, a research was carried out based on several jurists, mainly focused on the study of Constitutional Law and Electoral Law, seeking to detail the subject. In addition, important judgments were extracted from Brazilian jurisprudence, as well as data from the Superior Electoral Court about Brazilian electoral representation.In addition, basic concepts related to popular sovereignty, nationality, citizenship, suffrage and voting were discussed, as well as differentiating positive political rights from negative political rights.Furthermore, hypotheses of loss or suspension of political rights were analyzed, situations such as: judicial cancellation of naturalization; absolute civil incapacity; unappealable criminal conviction; excuse of conscience; administrative dishonesty; and conscripted.Finally, we sought to examine the impacts of these restrictions on electoral representation and their impacts, in light of the established principle about the full enjoyment of political rights

Espera-se realizar um exame acerca das hipóteses de privação dos direitos políticos previstos na Constituição Federal de 1988.Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa baseada em vários juristas, principalmente estudiosos do Direito Constitucional e do Direito Eleitoral. Além disso, foram extraídos julgados importantes da jurisprudência brasileira, bem como foram levantados dados do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral acerca da representatividade eleitoral no Brasil. Ademais, foram abordados conceitos basilares relacionados à soberania popular, nacionalidade, cidadania, sufrágio universal e voto, bem como diferenciou-se os direitos políticos positivos dos direitos políticos negativos.
