Resumo: Aging is a natural process for the human being and the old age, as well as the other stages of life, has its own features. The Population aging and longevity bring up new challenges to the society and to the individuals on how to offer the elderly conditions so they can keep developing their life potential. In order to have a full development of it, the elderly should be inserted in the educational context, and the continuing education approach meets this demand. The human being keeps, even at the most advanced ages, the need and ability to rethink life and it is up to each individual and to the society, on the whole, to guarantee the necessary conditions so the elderly feel encouraged to make new life projects. This research, carried out at the Faculdade da Terceira Idade UNIVAP, in the city of São José dos Campos, SP, aimed at verifying the existence of relationship between the continuing education and the elderly life project, as well as, intended to broaden the knowledge of this area and to contribute to projects and programs directed to the elderly. The results of this research show the existence of a positive relation between the continuing education and the elderly life project and point out the importance of including them in programs with activities that encourage the elderly to plan and accomplish life projects

O envelhecimento populacional e a longevidade apresentam à sociedade e aos indivíduos novos desafios sobre como oferecer condições aos idosos para que continuem desenvolvendo seu potencial de vida. Para que esse desenvolvimento se faça plenamente, é importante o idoso estar inserido no contexto educativo e a educação continuada voltada às peculiaridades dos idosos atende essa demanda. O ser humano mantém, mesmo nas idades mais avançadas, a necessidade e a capacidade repensar sua vida, cabendo a cada indivíduo e à sociedade, de modo geral, garantirem as condições necessárias para que os idosos se sintam incentivados para realizar novos projetos de vida. Esta pesquisa, realizada na Faculdade da Terceira Idade UNIVAP, no município de São José dos Campos, SP, teve como objetivo verificar a existência da relação entre educação continuada e projeto de vida de pessoas idosas, visando ampliar o conhecimento existente nessa área e contribuir com programas e projetos voltados para idosos.
