The Minsk Agreements were a series of agreements, in the context of the Ukrainian civil war that began in 2014, after the Euromaidan coup, with the aim of pacifying the conflict situation in Donbass, with the main point being the establishment of a ceasefire in the region. This work aims to understand the formal and material reasons for the failure of attempts to pacify the Ukrainian civil war, aimed at by the Minsk Agreements, since, due to their absolute ineffectiveness, they were unable to avoid its escalation into a conflict of international extent. As for the methodology, the dialectical approach method and the historical procedure method are used. Certainly, Western influence on events in Ukraine, especially since the 2014 colour revolution, has had a negative impact, leading that scenario to conflict, which makes it clear that the commitment to peace in this matter is strictly Russian-Ukrainian and, Therefore, for better applicability of peace negotiations, International Law must pay attention to the new demands of the emerging multipolar world
