Resumo: The Venezuelan economy has changed significantly during its existence, changing from an agrarian economy to an oil-dependent one. This process began on the 20th century, when the country discovered and began to exploit its vast oil reserves. Although the exploitation of the commodity helped to boost the Venezuelan economy and develop the country, it also made it vulnerable and without bargaining power in the face of the objectives of the multinationals installed there. In addition, dependence on oil has also contributed to the neglect of other economic sectors such as agriculture, tourism and manufacturing, bringing serious economic and social problems
