Resumo: The present study aims to examine the concept of circular economy and its application in the construction industry, which is the sector with the highest waste generation among all productive sectors. Due to the depletion of natural resources caused by the current linear economic model, there is a clear need for research and discussion on the circular system. Given the significant impact of this topic on our society, it is possible to acquire the necessary technical knowledge and critical insight through an academic approach to evaluate applications in construction. Materials commonly used in construction do not always offer the opportunity to be reused, repaired, remanufactured or recycled. However, it is feasible to consider a renewed perspective: a restorative economy in which waste from construction projects can be transformed into raw materials for other purposes, aiming to achieve the goal of zero waste. Therefore, this research seeks, through a bibliographical review of articles, dissertations, legal bases and other methodological approaches, to provide an overview of the circular economy, focusing on solid waste, which is found in greater quantities in the construction sector. After identifying some promising applications for this waste, which, in a linear economic system, would be destined for landfills, it was possible to outline an economic perspective for society in the future, despite the challenges highlighted during this research

Devido à exaustão dos recursos naturais causada pelo atual modelo econômico linear, há uma clara necessidade de pesquisa e discussão sobre o sistema circular. Dado o significativo impacto desse tema em nossa sociedade, é possível adquirir os conhecimentos técnicos e o discernimento crítico necessários por meio de um enfoque acadêmico para avaliar as aplicações na construção civil. Os materiais comumente usados na construção nem sempre oferecem a oportunidade de serem reutilizados, reparados, remanufaturados ou reciclados. No entanto, é viável considerar uma perspectiva renovada: uma economia restaurativa em que os resíduos de projetos de construção possam ser transformados em matéria-prima para outras finalidades, visando alcançar a meta de desperdício zero. Portanto, esta pesquisa busca, por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica de artigos, dissertações, embasamentos legais e outras abordagens metodológicas, fornece uma visão geral da economia circular, com foco nos resíduos sólidos, que são encontrados em maior quantidade no setor da construção.
