Cultura no Centro de São Paulo: um estudo das imagens de três espaços ressignificados

The present research investigates forms of cultural occupations in the expanded Center of São Paulo city, intensified as of 2010. Occupations administered in three different forms are studied: a cultural center administered by the private sector, the Red Bull Station; an independent street occupation, A Spectacular Charanga do França; and a temporary cultural center, managed by the public administration, Vila Itororó. The question that arises focuses on how these occupations are giving a new meaning to the urban space, changing its imagery environment and assigning new meanings and connections to it. We analyzed the transformation of spaces and their images, before and after occupations, using instruments offered by the Culture Semiotics and the Image Theory. The theoretical foundation capable of contributing to the understanding of this research object is based on: Media Theory, by Harry Pross, and on the analysis of Hans Belting's image, deepened in the studies of Norval Baitello Junior, from his formulations on image and environment. In order to understand how urban space is constituted, we use Lucrécia Ferrara's research as a theoretical axis and her concepts of spatiality, visuality and visibility. This research also relies on the studies of the Situationist International on Drift Theory and construction of situations; James Hillman, who understands spatiality as having a soul - anima mundi; David Harvey, Raquel Rolnik and Christian Dunker on gentrification, quality of life and social symptoms of urban life and also collaborations by Edgar Morin from a perspective of complex thinking, among other authors who collaborate in the analysis of this object. With the intention of analyzing the object in all its areas, it is necessary, in addition to theoretical research, field study and interviews that make it possible to observe the object in a practical sense
