This work aims to elucidate poetic writing and comprehend its therapeutic potential. The specific objectives of the dissertation are: 1. briefly present the history of writing; 2. describe how the relationship between writing and Psychology has been conceptualized; 3. present the main elements of Martin Heidegger's phenomenological approach, which helps clarify the ideas of poetic language and therapeutic potential; 4. explicit the meanings of the writing experience for those who write; 5. reflect on the therapeutic character of writing. For the understanding of this phenomenon, the research adopts the hermeneutic-existential phenomenological approach as the theoretical framework. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of existence, designating it as "being-there" and "being-in-the-world" within a meaningful and temporal context. Throughout the dissertation, it is shown that poetic writing represents a distinct mode of relating to language, one that does not seek to dominate or instrumentally comprehend it as it is done in the age of technique, but rather unveils the truth of things. As a result, poetic writing can be therapeutic as it facilitates the revelation of pertinent possibilities for the writer, enabling a closer connection to freer ways of experiencing one's own existence.
