Resumo: This work aims to expose and inform professionals in the area of Psychopedagogy, education and related how is important the fairy tales as a tool of work of children's literature for the development of reading and writing in the early years of school children. For this purpose there was literature review of the area with the aim of resuming concepts that underlie the design assumed in relation to the use of fairy tales in the fields mentioned above. To illustrate this conception samples of activities were implemented with two children, one already literate and another in the process of literacy, using known and unknown fairy tales by children who were part of this sampling

Para esse fim realizou-se revisão da literatura da área com o objetivo de retomar conceitos que fundamentem a concepção assumida em relação ao uso de contos de fadas nos campos de atuação já referidos.
