The high-quality execution of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) demands promptness from the multidisciplinary team, theoretical-practical skills, as well as access to equipment, medications, and materials for advanced life support. The presence of a fully equipped Emergency Cart (EC) becomes pivotal in healthcare units. This study aimed to comprehend the nursing team's knowledge regarding the composition, organization, and utilization of the EC. The adopted methodology was a qualitative-quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and exploratory study conducted with the nursing staff of Hospital Santa Lucinda (HSL), encompassing clinical, surgical, maternity, coronary care, semi-intensive, and intensive adult care units. Results unveiled that 78.5% of professionals had previously used the emergency cart, with 45.6% expressing confidence in handling urgent and emergent situations. However, only 22.8% could accurately identify the sequence of drawers in the EC. Analysis of the ease and challenges in handling the cart reflected diverse perceptions and experiences. Efficient organization, clear material identification, and adequate knowledge were underscored as crucial elements in facilitating cart utilization. Conversely, challenges were associated with material and medication organization and accessibility.These findings underscore the significance of an efficient emergency cart organization, adequate nursing team training, equipment and packaging updates, and cart standardization to avoid confusion across different units or locations. These considerations are vital to ensure the safety and effectiveness of emergency procedures, potentially aiding in the review and enhancement of critical care protocols. In conclusion, this study highlighted the necessity for ongoing training for the nursing team, given that lack of preparedness directly impacts patient care time and consequently, patient outcomes. Thus, it is proposed that the hospital's Continuous Education initiative devises an Emergency Cart Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), accompanied by training on its handling, composition, and visual standardization for material identification
