Resumo: The objctive of this dissertation was to analyze the works of Shakespeare and Cervantes, specifically Troillus and Cressida (1602) and El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha (1605), noting that both were written in a context of great instability and paradigm changes both in Spain and England. The work of Cervantes will be analyzed here in the context in which it was published and read in Shakespeare's England, taking seventeenth-century London as the place of analysis. In order to do so, we will study the context in which the city became a major commercial and cultural center during the reign of Elizabeth I. We will also analyze the contexts of production and publication that involved the playwriters and the publisher-booksellers of the time who constantly fought for the monopoly of representation, always remembering that the concept of authorship was, at the time, in formation. Thus the research had to use the concept of representation formulated by New Cultural History to analyze disputes between court and city, between city and theater, between court and theater, and between book publishers and book authors , which lasted throughout the life of one of the greatest writers of all time, William Shakespeare

Thus the research had to use the concept of representation formulated by New Cultural History to analyze disputes between court and city, between city and theater, between court and theater, and between book publishers and book authors , which lasted throughout the life of one of the greatest writers of all time, William ShakespeareO objetivo dessa dissertação foi analisar as obras de Shakespeare e Cervantes, espeficicamente Troillus and Cressida (1602) e El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha (1605), notando que ambas foram escritas em um contexto de grande instabilidade e mudanças de paradigmas tanto na Espanha quanto na Inglaterra. A obra de Cervantes será aqui analisada no contexto na qual a mesma foi publicada e lida na Inglaterra de Shakespeare, tomando como local de análise a Londres do século XVII. Para tanto, será estudado o contexto na qual a cidade tornou-se um grande centro comercial e cultural duranto o reinado de Elizabeth I. Serão também analisados os contextos de produção e publicação que envolviam os escritores de peças de teatro e os livreiros editores da época que lutavam constantemente pelo monopólio da representação, sempre lembrando que o conceito de autor estava, na época, formando. Portanto, a pesquisa utilizara-se do conceito de representação formulado pela Nova História Cultural para analisar as disputas entre a corte e a cidade, entre a cidade e o teatro, entre a corte e o teatro e entre os livreiros editores e os autores de livros, disputas essas que perduraram durante toda a vida de um dos maiores escritores de todos os tempos, William ShakespeareCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESConselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPqapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/48183/Bruno%20Foschini%20Pajtak.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em HistóriaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Ciências SociaisTeatro inglês (Literatura) - Elizabetano, 1500-1600 - História e críticaShakespeare, William [1564-1616] - Crítica e interpretaçãoCervantes Saavedra, Miguel de [1547-1616] - Crítica e interpretaçãoEnglish drama - Early modern and Elizabethan, 1500-1600 - History and criticismShakespeare, William [1564-1616] - Criticism and interpretationCervantes Saavedra, Miguel de [1547-1616] - Criticism and interpretationCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::HISTORIAA tragicomédia da modernidade: Shakespeare e Cervantes na Inglaterra do século XVIIThe tragicomedy of modernity: Shakespeare and Cervantes in Seventeenth Century’s Englandinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTBruno Foschini Pajtak.pdf.txtBruno Foschini Pajtak.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain249545https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/21912/4/Bruno%20Foschini%20Pajtak.pdf.txt08ce0e4306721c9a7d6a885ba1526be9MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
