Resumo: This work examines Pedro Luiz Correia de Araújo´s artistic outputs. In fact, despite his fruitful artistic life in Brazil, his contributions are not frequently mentioned in open studies, expositions or collections. Correia de Araújo taught in important art schools in France and Brazil as well as he was the author of several articles in the field of Fine Arts in “Correio da Manhã”, a prestigious Brazilian newspaper of his time. Moreover, he has been the founder member of the Director Council of Brazilian Modern Art Club and participated in the organizing committee for the implementation of the Brazilian Historical and Artistic Heritage Service. However, although he has played an important role in the national art scene, his artistic heritage has relatively been kept outside of the Brazilian art history narratives. Based on that, the aim of this work is to present the artist bequest and to find out possible reasons of his circumstantial humbleness in the files of the art history
