Resumo: This study didactically exposes the concept, guiding principles and characteristics of employment contracts in a general way, approaching the specifics of the employment contracts of professional football athlete. For better understanding, it is important to understand that the Labour Sports Law is regulated by specific legislation, though is also subject to the general regulation by the Consolidation of Labour Laws. Thus is needed observe the specific legislation and, in parallel, the Consolidation of Labour Laws and the whole labour law system to analyze the peculiarities of the employment contracts of professional football players, objectifying the enlightenment of the main points of this particular contract
