Resumo: This work aims to present the postmodern understanding of the subject, to understand how postmodernity reconfigures the experience of sexuality and to establish how the postmodern subject is related to the tension between sexuality and religion. The methodology of bibliographic research was applied and to base the text the following authors were used: Alain Touraine, Byung-Chul Han and Gilles Lipovetsky, among others. The postmodern subject finds in this model of society a new identification, another way of living, of relating and also of understanding sexuality and religion. These spheres also take on new parameters. Institutions lose power with postmodernity and the subject becomes the author of existence itself. The new way of understanding reality is perceived by both the subject and the institutions. From this understanding comes a tension between the sexual experience and the discourse presented by religion

Aplicamos a metodologia de pesquisa bibliográfica e para fundamentar o texto utilizamos os seguintes autores: Alain Touraine, Byung- Chul Han e Gilles Lipovetsky, entre outros. O sujeito pós-moderno encontra neste modelo de sociedade uma nova identificação, outra maneira de viver, de relacionar e também de compreender a sexualidade e a religião. Estas esferas também assumem novos parâmetros. Com a pós-modernidade as instituições perdem poder e o sujeito torna-se autor da própria existência. O novo modo de compreender a realidade é realizado tanto pelo sujeito quanto pelas instituições.
