This monograph deals with the reception of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 on the subject of religious freedom, contributing to the affirmation of individual freedom as regards the right of manifestation of religion and belief in the practice of worship in public or in private. It will explain the historical factors in which the creation of the UN and the genesis of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were developed in order to contextualize the emergence of religious freedom in the document as a right to be protected and guaranteed for the full exercise of citizenship in contemporary times. It will also analyze the historical evolution of religious freedom with the aim of showing freedom of belief and worship, as well as the right not to adopt religion or belief as constitutive postulates to the development of a culture that effectively respects the rights and dignity of the human person. The research will be characterized as a bibliographic study, with a qualitative approach based on the national and foreign literature that contribute to the deepening of key concepts in the approach of the themes. The study will conclude that it is the State's role to protect all religions by maintaining neutrality and without discriminating against religious freedom as an individual right and prerogative of Human Rights as an affirmation of the dignity of the human person
