A juventude periférica e a dimensão subjetiva da desigualdade social na cidade de São Paulo: uma revisão integrativa da literatura

The territory, in its complexity, considering it’s multiple dimensions, is a significant identity factor, reflecting in various areas of an individual's life, from how they socialize, their affections, to their physical health and their coping mechanisms in the face of the inequalities in that same territory. To this end, this study sought to understand the subjective dimension of these social inequalities, based on the experiences of young residents of the periphery and to reflect on the impact of the conditions in specific urban territories of cities on the subjectivity of their inhabitants in this important phase of experimentation and development. The methodology included an integrative review of the literature on the topic, starting with the question: How do the experiences of young residents of the periphery relate to the subjective dimension of social inequality in the city of São Paulo? This city was chosen because it is populous and diverse in terms of culture, ethnicity, economics, and, consequently, territorial diversity. In this way, we searched the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Electronic Journals of Psychology (PePSIC), Virtual Health Library (BVS), and Google Scholar platforms, including articles and full book chapters with the following keywords: "youth," "suburbs," and "São Paulo," available in Portuguese or English. In the end, seven qualitative and empirical scientific articles from the last five years were selected. These results allowed for an understanding, from the perspective of Socio-Historical Psychology, of the trends and contradictions regarding the experiences of peripheral youth and the subjective dimension of social inequality in the city of São Paulo. Thus, it was concluded that the periphery is an identity factor for young people that goes beyond physical parameters, that youth, more than a homogeneous biological phase, is a period influenced by factors of race, class, gender, and historicity, and that the peripheral youth of the city of São Paulo, experiencing social inequality in urban space, creates and recreates spaces of complicity, resignification, experimentation, and development, transforming violence into indignation, power, joy, and hope through the community
