Resumo: | Objective: To analyze the completion and use of the child's booklet by health professionals and parents or guardians, based on the information that is recorded, updated and shared over time. Methodology: Observational, descriptive study, using a qualitative-quantitative approach, with documentary research carried out based on the records filled out in the Child Health Handbook (CSC) of children who were born between 2013 and 2023 in a kindergarten. A semi-structured questionnaire was used as a strategy to collect data, allowing the freedom to express their opinion and knowledge, with the following question: "What is your opinion about the child's health booklet". Results: Of the total number of children enrolled, 48 children were included, whose parents were interviewed and their respective Handbooks analyzed. It was observed that the variables with the highest frequency of completion were the mother's name and name (96%), followed by a greater predominance of the completion of birth weight and length (63%). A high frequency of non-filling was observed in the odontogram in 98% of the CHRs. Regarding the data filled in the consultations in relation to head circumference, weight and length, vaccines, bonds of affection and warning signs, it was observed that most of the records were partial or not filled out and in 98% of them, only 1 data was recorded, which was vaccination in all age groups investigated. Regarding the perception of parents and guardians about the importance of the CHR, it was found that the opinions may vary in the individuals and the categories highlighted were: Importance for the Monitoring of the Child's Development, Main Use for Vaccination and Underuse of the Booklet, Interest in greater explanation and Education about the Booklet, Weaknesses in the use of the Child's Handbook and Suggestions for improvements. Conclusion: The most significant categories show positive opinions about the relevance of the CHR and the parents' knowledge of its content and importance. In addition, they presented the parents' knowledge regarding the merit of the registration of vaccines, which, however, is limited to this use, due to the lack of filling in other information and that, even though they are still deficient in the knowledge of their composition, suggest the search for learning and indicate improvements to their use by health professionals. There were limitations in the study due to the small sample size, which may not reflect the completion of the Child Health Handbook in the child population in general, requiring further studies in the area. |
