Private Law, over the years, has continually been put under pressure, and the birthof ESG was no different. Corporate Law and the capital market, both suffering from thetransformation of social interests, began to develop their own mechanisms to protect thereputation and brands owned by multinationals. In this sense, multinationals began not only to expand their operations in societybut also to take responsibility for their actions. When dealing with ESG and the socioenvironmental responsibility of multinationals, it can be permeated by the most diversetypes of responsibilities, namely, within the scope of Civil Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law, Corporate Law, among others. But the reason why it is relevant to address the subject of ESG initiatives and thesocio-environmental responsibilities of multinationals comes down precisely to the delayin starting to hold these large markets of multinationals accountable. The objective of this work is to understand how ESG initiatives were responsiblefor greater socio-environmental accountability among multinationals and how thismechanism works in practice
