Resumo: The main purpose of this study is to examine relationships and parallels between the ideas about the constitution of meaning in Peirce’s philosophy and in psychoanalysis, as formulated by two of its well-known authors, Wilfred Bion and Donald Winnicott. The basis for this investigation is the recognition of how Peirce’s categories, and the theory of signs that is part of his philosophy, were related to ideas independently developed in psychoanalysis, such as Bion’s alpha function and Winnicott’s transitional objects and phenomena. In this context, our research was guided by Peirce’s proposal, in “A Guess at the Riddle”, that the application of his categories to psychology, by means of a kind of play that he called, “follow my leader”. By following his thread, we came to the relevant realization that Peirce’s proposal had been to a certain extent accomplished, in an independent way and in other words, through some of Bion’s ideas described in details in this study. Peircean’s ideas led to clarifications and improvements in conceptual and clinical psychoanalytic notions, particularly those of alpha function, the “Grid” and Bion’s theory of transformations. We also describe how Peircean ideas could be useful to an international discussion about the called “late Bion”; another significant Peircean contributions were to expanding concepts such as that of transitional objects and playing by Winnicott. Finally, we described how the study of the close relationships between the ideas of Peirce, with Bion and with Winnicott, also allowed us to identify similarities between Bion’s alpha function and the role of playing in Winnicott

Finally, we described how the study of the close relationships between the ideas of Peirce, with Bion and with Winnicott, also allowed us to identify similarities between Bion’s alpha function and the role of playing in WinnicottUm objetivo central desta Dissertaçao é o exame de relações e proximidades entre concepções acerca da constituição das significações na filosofia de Peirce e aquelas desenvolvidas na psicanálise, especialmente por dois dos seus reconhecidos autores, Wilfred Bion e Donald Winnicott. Uma base fundamental para esta investigação foi o reconhecimento de como as categorias propostas por Peirce, e a teoria dos signos que faz parte de sua filosofia, tinham a ver com noções criadas independentemente na psicanálise, como as da função alfa de Bion e dos objetos e fenômenos transicionais de Winnicott. A partir daí, tornou-se uma espécie de fio condutor desta Dissertação a proposta de Peirce, no “A Guess at the Riddle”, sobre a avaliação da aplicação de suas categorias em relação à psicologia, através do que chamou de jogo do “follow my leader”. Este direcionamento levou ao reconhecimento, considerado de grande relevância, de como a proposta de Peirce foi de certo modo realizada, independentemente e usando outros termos, através de muitas das ideias de Bion, apresentadas amplamente neste trabalho. Ao lado disso, as concepções peircianas permitiram esclarecimentos e acréscimos em relação a aspectos conceituais e clínicos da psicanálise, destacando-se contribuições sobre a função alfa, a “Grade” e a teoria das transformações de Bion, incluindo a apresentação de pontos de vistas peircianos sobre ideias discutidas em nível internacional a respeito do chamado “late Bion”; também houve contribuições significativas acerca de aspectos das noções sobre os objetos transicionais e o brincar, de Winnicott; outra verificação importante ocorreu em função da proximidade do estudo de relações de Peirce, com Bion e com Winnicott, o que permitiu o reconhecimento de identidades entre a função alfa de Bion e papéis do brincar em Winnicottapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/51175/Paulo%20Duarte%20Guimar%c3%a3es%20Filho.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em FilosofiaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Filosofia, Comunicação, Letras e ArtesPsicanálisePeirce, Charles Sanders [1839-1914]SemióticaPsychoanalysisPeirce’s PhilosophySemioticCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::FILOSOFIAUm estudo de relações da constituição das significações na filosofia de Peirce e na psicanáliseinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTPaulo Duarte Guimarães Filho.pdf.txtPaulo Duarte Guimarães Filho.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain271287https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/22861/4/Paulo%20Duarte%20Guimar%c3%a3es%20Filho.pdf.txt723fbfb21892539248416dcbd16cfb65MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
