We intend, through this study, to analyse in a brief way the historical context of the creation of the International Labour Organization and its development over the years to the present time, noting its importance to the international society and the recognition of its important work. We will make a brief mention to the basic concepts of International Law, especially the Law of Treaties and International Organizations to reach the specific study of the organization object of this work. The present work will also deal with the relationship between its creation and the League of Nations in the context of a the World War I, as well as their survival to the World War II and the subsequent transition from the League of Nations to the United Nations. We will study their structure, aims, means of action, the methods of supervision of international labor standards and other characteristics of the entity. More specifically and in a little more detailed way, we will try to deal with their normative action, its tripartite composition and its importance for the ILO to develop into the organization it is today. Ultimately, the objective of this work is to provide an simply technical overview of the ILO, from its beginning to the present, and its history and means of action
