Resumo: | This research has as its aim emphasizing the Song of Songs’ poetic language. It is done by trying to understand its metaphors’ meaning, and to highlight its imagistic and symbolic aspects. Furthermore, this project intends to grasp the meanings the constant presence of the feminine voice produce, as well as to understand the results of the conversations established between meyou relations. Regarding our references, in order to comprehend the metaphoric meanings, we have researched Aristóteles (1999), Ricouer (2015), Alter (2007), Lausbergh (2004), Lakoff & Johnson (2002). As for the feminine aspect analysis, we based ourselves in Brenner (2000) and Eisenberg (1997). Concerning the understanding of biblical terms, we bring Davis (2002) and the symbolic in Chevalier & Gheerbrant (2020). Likewise, we have consulted many studies focused on Song of Songs. Moreover, throughout this investigation, the biblical text enunciations ¬— The Jerusalem Bible — are examined according to the linguistic, geographic, and historic context. Beginning from it, we could reach not only the meanings of referents in the feminine discourse but also metaphor related conclusions. In this sense, the following problems are raised: in which way does the Song of Songs’ feminine character internalize the discourse as to express herself through metaphors? How, and in which ways, are the metaphors present in Song of Songs? We have formulated hypotheses to those questions: the metaphors are employed in Song of Songs to implicitly compare the lovers’ impressions over the beings they love; the feminine voice crosses the majority of the book, for the protagonist undertakes the speech and expresses herself poetically, she adopts those metaphors to communicate with her lover; the man, who listens to her, keeps the discourse level practically unaltered, teeming with metaphors showing his esteem for the woman — in his words, she assumes the highest rank. It’s important to emphasize the Bible is explained here as a work of literature, with its specific poetic language. Song of Songs stands out for its language, scenery, and characters, which distinguishes it from the other biblical books. It is a text of singular lexical richness, and one which must be studied and examined. Furthermore, poetry vibrates throughout the whole work, given the extensive presence of figures of speech |

It is a text of singular lexical richness, and one which must be studied and examined. Furthermore, poetry vibrates throughout the whole work, given the extensive presence of figures of speechA finalidade desta pesquisa é ressaltar a linguagem poética do livro bíblico Cântico dos Cânticos.
