Originalidade atípica: expandindo a visão da criatividade de pessoas autistas em uma perspectiva neurodiversa-comportamental

There is still limited research that seeks to broaden the restricted notion of what creativity means and how it can exclude populations that behave in ways that challenge common sense. To fill this gap, three studies on creative behavior in people with Autism Spectrum Disorder were selected, addressing the subject without considering these behaviors as scarce when compared to those of non-autistic individuals. These studies were analyzed from the perspective of Behavior Analysis along with the neurodiversity perspective, which aims to naturalize characteristics stemming from the vastness of human neurological composition and that are perceived as deficits, without understanding them as inherently negative or something that needs to be fixed, but rather as part of diverse and valid identities. Autistic individuals are creative in diverse and individual ways, challenging the notion of a universal profile, while denying their identity perpetuates inaccessibility, underscoring the importance of promoting neurodiversity and updating research approaches, such as Behavior Analysis, to ensure inclusion and appreciation
