O consumo excessivo de psicotrópicos: a medicalização dos afetos no século XXI

Abstract: Nowadays we can see an excessive consumption of psychotropics. Studies in Latin America, Brazil and Europe, points to the increase in the consumption of these drugs. Based on these factors, the present work seeks to understand if the motivations of these excesses are linked to emotional factors, such as, to bear the sufferings inherent to life, designated by Freud as "Malaise in Civilization". On the other hand, the search for the supposed happiness offered by the capitalist system, through consumer goods, proposes a sense of completeness or even a possibility of social insertion. Throughout the work we will point out the impressions left by revolutions of an intellectual, political and economic order that affected and directly affect the evolution of the human being and his / her psychic constitution, being able or not to signal the reason for the search or acceptance of treatments with psychotropic when not always if you are sure of their need. Constitutive factors and / or resulting from these revolutions, such as the change in the perception of the passage of time, competitive labor market, an increase in diseases that were previously considered normal situations, a culture of omnipotence (where everything can or can always be well) are signs of this unbridled search to keep up with the peers in the various groups in which the subjects are inserted. To understand the psychic factors, among them how the compulsion can lead the subjects to seek medicalization as support for their emotional pain, we use as a theoretical reference the psychoanalysis developed by Freud and Lacan
