This current research is directed to the precautionary principle and its application in releasing the production and consumption of genetically modified foods. The purpose of completing this survey is to study the way in which the release of genetically modified organisms can affect nature, taking into consideration that precaution is being applied, describing what this principle is, the history and characteristics and what requirements and safeguards are necessary to guarantee the protection of the environment and human life. The method of approach used in this actual research was deductive and the methods of procedure were specific and legal. The survey also confirms that the precautionary principle should be used in each situation in which a new activity is to be implemented when there is no entire scientific proof of what the effects may be for the environment and human life. The result of this survey also proves that the release of genetically modified foods for consumption must be preceded by application of the precautionary principle in order to ensure the fundamental right to health, since it is uncertain what effects these foods may have to human life. Thus the principle of precaution is applied to preserve the environment and ensure the existence of mankind for now and generations to come
