Mais-de-olhar: janelas como sintoma da cultura e metáfora no espaço físico e virtual

This study approaches the window as an architectural element and its consequences in culture from the point of view of psychoanalysis in extension, through which its impact on the subject can be considered symptomatic from different angles. The main objective of the research is to draw a parallel between the typology of windows, as a metaphor for the architectural eye, focusing on the transformations that took place in the last century and the subjective effects produced by such changes. For this purpose, in the first part, clinical concepts addressed by the Freud-Lacanian theory are explored, such as scopic drive, the mirror stage, the three registers, and the three Lacanian jouissance modalities, which deal with the formation of the Self, the origin of narcissism and the relationship with the other. In the second part, the morphology of the windows is presented and discussed as a fundamental architectural element to the formation of the human gaze, and its metaphorical form of use in today's virtual experience, which can be understood as a symptom of culture. At the end, considerations are drawn about the importance of the window as a sign that contains in itself all architectural issues, its importance for the imagination of the Cartesian subject, and about how Psychoanalysis itself can offer itself as a window as it challenges the imaginary through the subject's speech. The present articulation of the structure of the scopic drive with architecture thus seeks to bring a greater understanding of how psychoanalysis applied to culture can be articulated with artistic and material production
