The objective of this academic exercise was understanding the origins and function of the binary system of genders through a critical discursive textual analysis of the book "The History of Sexuality Vol. 1" by Michel Foucault as well as other auxiliary and more recent texts that build on the knowledge of the original, namely of an understanding of gender as a tool of capitalism and colonialism. This reflexion sought to denaturalize e problematize the relations of the binary genders with themselves, questioning the validity of the colonial narratives allied with their supposed rationality and proposing an ampler comprehension of human complexity. This was realized through a discursive textual analysis of the texts looking to understand them more fully and to search for new ways to comprehend the present, past and future of gender in our society.
